Tendai Mutinhimwa
In 1999 he came to Harare to find a job. He became friendly with Wancelous Marufu who was a full time sculptor. Wancelous employed Tendai to help him wash and polish his sculptures. Sadly Wancelous died and Tendai was taken on by another sculptor called Fabian Madamombe. Fabian was the person who taught him the intricate techniques of sculptuing and encouraged Tendai to sculpt on his own. Tendai has now been a commercial sculptor for six years.
Tendai has been with Stone Dynamics Gallery for three years. His art is now part of collections in Europe and North America. A great young talent who has just started to explore his artistics horizons.
“Whimsical interpretations of animals are the main themes in Tendai’s sculptures. He likes to use wavy lines and symbols on his pieces to show movement. “
