Pardington Tafumaneyi was born on the 11th of January, 1996, in -Chitungwiza – the satellite city of Zimbabwe’s capital – Harare. He is the first born in a family of two. Tragically, both of his parents died when he was only a toddler, and he was raised by his Aunt. Pardington attended primary school, and completed his secondary education in the same area of Chitungwiza in which he grew up.
After taking an interest in art- and sculpture in particular – Pardington was mentored by the artist Rufaro Murenza from an early age, and he divided his time between attending school and learning to sculpt. After completing his Ordinary Level examinations in 2012, he became a full-time apprentice and started to create his own small pieces, still under the tutelage of Rufaro Murenza. During that time, he participated in the Chitungwiza Arts Centre Exhibition and was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation. In 2016, he became an independent artist and started to develop his skills venturing into different types of artworks, particularly birds, figures, and abstracted works.
Pardington believes that “art has no limits” and “art is everywhere”. “Even when you dress yourself you are engaging in the artistic process”.
